Marcelo Vieira da Silva Junior (born 12 May 1988), known as Marcelo, is a Brazilian specialist footballer that plays as a left-back and is the captain of Spanish club Real Madrid. He is extensively considered as among the biggest left-backs of perpetuity.
In 2005, Marcelo won a Campeonato Carioca with Luminance and in 2006, he was named to the Brasilia Group of the Period, at age 18. By the end of the year, he joined Real Madrid for an $8 million charge. Marcelo was chosen as a member of Brazil to play in the 2013 Confederations Cup and began all five suits, as Brazil won 3– 0 against Spain in the last.
